For best private violin lessons' results,
SUCCESS = TEACHER + STUDENT + PARENT
If any part of the team disengages, everyone loses!
MY JOB: Teach parents/students everything they need to know
Absolutely NO previous musical experience is necessary!
STUDENT: Commit to regular practicing
PARENT: Communicate with me/support lessons at home
Younger students: Parents attend lessons/become "helper teachers" at home
Older students: Parents' role becomes more supportive; less hands-on
Consistency of practicing: DAILY practicing promotes muscle memory in violin lessons for all levels!
regularity of practicing is even more important than quantity
Stay organized: create dedicated space for practicing
all essentials (music stand, pencils, metronome, music, etc.) should be ready & waiting
practicing area must be visible (out of sight = out of mind!)
Parental support: although the type/amount of support varies, parental support is always required
if parents show that violin is a priority, then kids will respond accordingly
Listen to violin music/attend concerts: one of greatest ways to learn is through osmosis
pro tip: listen to music in the car
I am deeply committed to Suzuki's vision that music education can unlock the human potential in every child.
“Music exists for the purpose of growing an admirable heart.”
"We must educate from the inside." - Shinichi Suzuki
My North Shore violin lessons incorporate a "modified Suzuki approach," meaning Suzuki plus more! By synthesizing various noteworthy methods and interspersing my own tricks of the trade, I offer students a comprehensive blend of expertise.
My musical journey was guided by mentors who offered me the greatest gift one person can bestow upon another — the unwavering belief that I “could do it.” I am now passionate about paying it forward to the next generation, grateful to offer violin lessons for all levels of students, that inspire positivity and touch the future.
The longer I teach, the more I develop a deeper understanding of the violin, of music, of why we play, and of human nature. There is no greater teacher than teaching itself, and I look forward to keep unveiling the magic of the violin during each and every one of my North Shore violin lessons at Goldberg Violin.
